Olympic Road Closures at UBC

Dear VPW Swim Families,

 From the UBC Pool Programmer:

During the Olympics, we have heard that parking will be difficult to find because of the hockey games at the Thunderbird (Doug Mitchell) Arena.

SW Marine Dr and 16th Ave coming onto campus will be closed and Wesbrook Cres north from 16th to the hospital will be closed during the 2 week Olympic period.  Your best access route to the campus will be along 10th/University Blvd. and 4th/Chancellor Rd.  Spectators driving on to campus to take in the hockey games will be filling up the parking spaces as close to the Arena as possible.  I would think your best bet for parking will be in the North Parkade, by Gage Towers (fairly close to the pool) and/or the Rose Garden Parkade, off of Chancellor Rd, by the Buchanan Building, further away from the Aquatic Centre.

Please follow the link below for a map of the upcoming UBC road closures during the Olympics and Paralympics, starting January 25 and running through until March 20.

Allow extra time to get to the pool.
