This summer, VPW was featured on Breakfast Television. Our high performance swimmers helped TV personality Greg Harper learn a routine and Coach Courtenay Grant helped viewers understand more about our sport and how hard our athletes must train to reach their levels of success. As of August 26, the following training schedule is available to help athletes and their parents plan for the upcoming season. Please bear in mind that this schedule is tentative and subject to change, as coaching, pools and teams unfold in September. Coaches of Canada congratulates Elena Podolsky, ChPC, Natalie Lagrange, Kara Kalin (VPW) and Khadija Cutcher on their swimmers’ recent successes at the Comen Cup in Italy earlier this month.
Canada fielded its 13-15 national team and this was the biggest international competition of the year for this age group. The team took home the bronze medal while the duo of Jacqueline Simoneau and Anne-Marie Chouinard won silver and Simoneau also won silver in the solo event.
“Coaching at the Comen Cup was such an exciting experience for me,” said Kara Kalin. “Having had the opportunity to watch the talent that exists in our sport at such a young age was truly remarkable. The highlight for me was watching our team fight for their spot on the podium with their gladiator themed routine. The story they created for their swim was executed with such intensity. Watching the girls receive their medal with such pride is a memory I will never forget!”
Congratulations again Elena, Natalie, Kara, Khadija and their swimmers!
